Briefing
Nuestro cliente deseaba crear un nuevo patrĆ³n para grabado lĆ”ser en uno de sus productos estrella, el āAlphaā. En este proyecto se nos permitiĆ³ total libertad creativa, aunque el cliente si que nos sugiriĆ³ un par de ideas; una de ellas era buscar una estĆ©tica oscura, āmetaleraā.
Uno de los objetivos que nos fijamos fue que el patrĆ³n fuera āseamlessā, es decir, completamente cerrado y que encajaran todas las caras de el grabado, ya que se trata de un grabado a aplicar a un objeto con 3 dimensiones.

Briefing
Our client wanted to create a new pattern for laser engraving on one of its star products, the āAlphaā. In this project we were allowed total creative freedom, although the client did suggest us a couple of ideas; one of them was to look for a dark, āmetalā aesthetic.One of the goals we set ourselves was for the pattern to be āseamlessā, that is, completely closed and for all the faces of the engraving to fit together, since it is an engraving to be applied to a 3-dimensional object.

Comenzamos el proyecto creando un lettering personalizado de la palabra āalphaā, el nombre del modelo de mod. Las letras fueron dibujadas completamente a mano varias veces hasta dar con la composiciĆ³n deseada y despuĆ©s pasamos a refinar detalles a mano y finalmente vectorizamos y aƱadimos algunos elementos para dotar al lettering de profundidad y mayor personalidad.
En esta ocasiĆ³n como tenĆamos total libertad tambiĆ©n intervenimos el logo de la marca aƱadiendo fuego a los ojos del carnero y un sĆmbolo de estĆ©tica āocultitstaā pero que carece de significado, hicimos esto Ćŗnicamente con un fin estĆ©tico.
Una vez tuvimos estos dos elementos preparados pasamos a colocarlos sobre el mapeado que se utiliza para realizar el grabado lĆ”ser, los ubicamos en la puerta del mod o parte frontal del mismo y a partir de ahĆ empezamos a dibujar en un ipad varias ideas hasta que encontramos una que nos pareciĆ³ adecuada.
Las formas del grabado son de tipo orgĆ”nico y recuerdan a las formas que forma el humo o el vapor cuando se expande. La parte mĆ”s complicada de este trabajo fue cuadrar todas las caras del mod y hacer que las formas coincidieran dando una sensaciĆ³n de continuidad.
Por Ćŗltimo, creamos unos mock-up para hacernos una idea de como quedarĆa el lettering junto con el imagotipo de RAM sobre unas camisetas.
A continuaciĆ³n se pueden ver algunas imĆ”genes del proceso asĆ como el producto final.

We start the project by creating a custom lettering of the word āalphaā, the name of the mod model. The letters were drawn completely by hand several times until we found the desired composition and then we went on to refine details by hand and finally we vectorized and added some elements to give the lettering depth and more personality.Ā
On this occasion, as we had total freedom, we also intervened in the brand's logo, adding fire to the eyes of the ram and a symbol of "occultist" aesthetics, but which lacks meaning, we did this solely for an aesthetic purpose.Ā
Once we had these two elements prepared, we placed them on the mapping that is used to carry out the laser engraving, we placed them on the door of the mod or the front of it and from there we began to draw several ideas on an ipad until we found one. which seemed appropriate.Ā
The shapesĀ of the engraving are of an organic type and are reminiscent of the forms formed by smoke or steam when it expands. The hardest part of this job was squaring all the faces of the mod and making the shapes match giving a sense of continuity.
Finally, we created some mock-ups to get an idea of āāhow the lettering would look along with the RAM logo on some t-shirts.Ā
